Yoga & Spa - An Invite to Relax
Trancoso has a singular energy, and it is transmitted by its preserved colonial architecture. Through the tiny colorful houses or through the emblematic Quadrado’s Church (São João Batista Church), those who visit the place feel as if the unmatched breeze charges up their batteries. Although the community manages to offer the dolce far niente - that is peculiar in that unique part of southern Bahia -, it is possible to give a boost to the mind and body, whether by visiting a spa or by practicing yoga. Listed below are the best ways to let yourself be guided by relaxation and inspiration that comes from the beautiful nature present in the place.
Love of Yoga
Those who practice yoga are very aware of the benefits it brings not just to the body, but also to the mind. There is a perfect place in Trancoso for the series of philosophical reflections that arise from outdoor exercising: Love of Yoga. In this shala (means school), it is possible to hear the vibrating sound of the wind and the birds vibrating with the mantra, a truly magical experience. The place teaches four different paths: Bhakti (devotion path), Ashtanga Vinyasa (system originated in the ancient Yoga Korunta manuscript, with different teachings and body techniques), Shivananda (aims to achieve the goal of uniting mind, body and spirit) and Hatha (with slower movements, this practice is designed to calm the mind and help thinking).
UXUA Casa Hotel & Spa
Relaxing massages, moon-baths and post-sun repair are some of the original treatments available at UXUA, selected as the “best resort in the world” by “Condé Nast Traveler” in 2021. Physician and nutrologist Jullian Hamamoto utilizes Bahia’s rich biodiversity to recover bodies and awaken senses. In the encounter between nature and nutrition, treatments inspired by nutritional science were created, as well as the local heritage of popular medicine and the ancient healing practices of native peoples, such as the Pataxó.
With a handcrafted line, many of the products used in the spa are made with specimens collected from the hotel's gardens, such as musk oil, extra virgin coconut oil, Brazil nuts, pitanga and other fruits, pink pepper seeds and cocoa.
